Established in 2008, Metro Solar Company has built a reputation as being one of the best providers of solar energy to help every Australian save a lot on their electricity bill. In fact, the company has installed more than 8,000 systems all acrossAustraliaand they do not have any plans of stopping. It does not matter whether it is for residential, commercial or large scale systems, they plan to deliver.
Leading with the purpose of makingAustraliaaware of incorporating solar power in their lives and save energy, Metro Solar has put up their website to ensure that their information and services are accessible at the simple click of a button. As a matter of fact, their homepage is laid out to be quite easily navigated by interested people. Because of the good reputation, a user friendly website and providing honest answers and advice, Metro Solar has gone from (ranking) to its current top (ranking) in search engines.
Metro Solar is stocked with the highest quality of energy systems and equipments. They also provide professional installation and support. You do not have to worry about having to wait in line for answers because they provide online support as well.
However, with most businesses thriving online, one of the issues that Metro Solar has had was that their website wasn’t getting enough traffic to generate leads and sales.
Obviously, when they came to us, we knew right away that they need to enhance their SEO tactics to improve their keywords’ Google Rankings. First, we need to look at their onsite SEO set-up to see whether the TITLE, DESCRIPTION and KEYWORDS have been optimised. So, right away, we checked their site’s source code to find out.
Before SEO Link Building Intervention: The Findings and Suggestions
Title: We found out that the site’s title consisted only of the site name, which is Metro Solar, and we therefore suggested that they change it into something that is more loaded with the keywords they want to be ranked for. We showed them an example from one of our clients so that they will have an idea on how to formulate a good one.
Description: We suggested they take out the current description and replace it with another that is loaded up with a lot of keywords that they want their site to be ranked for. Although, they should not go beyond 160 so that they won’t get truncated by Google.
Keyword: The keywords they have put are too broad and general e.g. “SOLAR.” When we placed it on Market Samurai for keyword search, we found that it gets around 20,000-30,000 searches. This means that it is highly competitive. We love a good challenge though!
Basically, as the screenshot below will tell you, most of the current keywords of their website such as “Solar Energy” and “Solar Panels,” did not rank the site anywhere near the top 1000. We advised them to activate their Google Analytics since it would make their job easier when monitoring their site’s activity and it would also be of great help for us. So, we set out to do their SEO for them.

After SEO Link Building Intervention: The Results
We analyzed the website last May 25, 2011 and we worked on it for less than 3 months. By July 18, 2011, our company has managed to improve the websites ranking through targeting the proper keywords.
By now, as you can see in the screen shot below, Metro Solar has the #1 organic listing in Google for the keyword “Solar Systems Gippsland.” One keyword we managed to really bring to the top is Solar Energy which is a highly competitive keyword. It is roughly #3 in rankings now but given a couple more weeks, we foresee more vast improvements.
